Here’s a pattern every growing TikTok Shop sees. A buyer watches a LIVE, checks out one item, comes back twenty minutes later for a second, and grabs a third from a creator video that evening. Three orders, one person, one address. Ship them separately and you pay for three labels and three cartons, and the buyer gets three tracking notifications for what felt like one shopping trip. Going the other way, one order with a bulky item and a small one can be cheaper or faster to send as two parcels, or one item may simply not be ready yet.
TikTok Shop has tools for both situations. Combined packages merge eligible orders from the same buyer into one parcel. Split orders break one order into several packages. This guide follows TikTok’s US Seller University pages “How to combine multiple orders into a single package” (dated September 29, 2026) and “Splitting Orders into Separate Packages,” plus TikTok Shop Partner Center’s fulfillment API documentation. Menus move, so treat paths below as a snapshot and check them in your own Seller Center.
Short version. Seller Center recommends combining orders automatically when they share the same customer, same shipping address and same delivery option, and are still Awaiting Shipment with no cancellation request. The prompt appears when you click Create Label or Add Tracking Info. You can accept, remove orders, or ship separately, and you can amend a combination until the package ships or reaches Awaiting Collection. Splitting works the other way, for Awaiting Shipment orders with more than one item, from Orders → Manage Orders or Shipping → Batch Shipping.
Why Combining Orders Matters More on TikTok Than on Other Channels
Most marketplaces see one order per checkout. TikTok Shop is built around impulse discovery: LIVE sessions where hosts drop new items every few minutes, creator videos that each link a different product, and flash deals that pull people back to the same shop several times in one day. That behavior naturally produces multiple small orders from the same buyer. Our guide to LIVE shopping strategy covers why repeat add-ons during a stream are a sign the session is working, not a fulfillment nuisance.
The cost side is simple. Each separate package is another label, carton, piece of dunnage and minute at the pack station. For seller-shipped brands paying their own carrier rates, combining two or three light items into one parcel is often meaningfully cheaper than shipping them one by one, although the exact saving depends on your carrier, rate card and box sizes. TikTok frames the feature the same way: it exists “to save on fulfillment costs while still providing a great customer delivery experience.”
There is a buyer-experience side too. TikTok says that once orders are combined, customers see a consolidated shipment in the TikTok app and can track that one package. One box, one tracking line and one delivery tend to make a better impression than a trickle of parcels arriving over several days.
When Seller Center Will Recommend a Combination
You don’t have to hunt for combinable orders. According to TikTok, Seller Center groups them automatically and shows recommendations when all four conditions are met:
- Same customer.
- Same customer shipping address. A buyer who sends one order home and one to work won’t be matched, and shouldn’t be.
- Same delivery option. Orders with different delivery choices aren’t grouped.
- Shipping status is Awaiting Shipment and the order doesn’t include a cancellation request.
One timing detail is worth building into your process: TikTok says customers can cancel orders up to one hour after purchase. If you pack the instant an order lands, you’ll miss the second and third orders a LIVE buyer is about to place, and you’ll occasionally pack something that gets canceled. Many seller-shipped brands batch their pick-and-pack runs a few times a day rather than shipping each order the moment it arrives, which gives combinations time to form. Just keep the batches inside your handling time; our late shipment rate guide explains why a saved label isn’t worth a shop-health hit.
How to Combine Orders, Step by Step
Accepting a recommendation
When you click Create Label (TikTok Shipping) or Add Tracking Info (seller shipping) on an order that qualifies, a Combine Orders pop-up appears. TikTok gives you two choices:
- Continue Without Combining, which ships each order separately.
- Confirm All Combinations and Continue, after which you can review the suggestions and remove any orders you don’t want in the combined package. Removed SKUs are processed separately.
TikTok notes that orders you remove can still be combined with other orders later, and the system may suggest a new combination. With TikTok Shipping, the prompt reappears when you create labels for recommended orders, even if you rejected the recommendation earlier.
If you buy labels through TikTok Shipping
Check the box size before buying the label. TikTok tells sellers to edit the length, width and height for a combined package so it meets carrier standards. A combined parcel is bigger and heavier than any single order in it, and the label has to reflect that. Most important: with TikTok Shipping you have to click Combine Shipments before shipping. TikTok says that once orders ship, the combination can’t be amended.
If you ship with your own carrier
Seller-shipped brands get a little more forgiveness. If you packed several orders into one box but forgot to click Combine, TikTok says you can fix it by uploading the combined shipment’s tracking number to each order in the package. If you used a prepaid label, you can upload one tracking number for orders shipped in the same parcel to the same buyer and address on the same day, and the logistics status syncs across them. For volume, the same can be done in bulk: download the combined package information and upload one tracking number per parcel in the spreadsheet.

Apply to Work With Us →Finding, Exporting and Changing Combined Orders
Once combined, orders can be filtered in Orders → Manage Orders: open the filter and choose Original/Combined under the Order Combination category. For reconciliation, export orders from the same page. TikTok says the export includes a Package ID column, so you can filter the file by Package ID to see which orders went out together. That column is what your warehouse team or 3PL should key on when they match parcels to orders.
To change a combination, filter for combined orders, select the package and click View combined package. You can Uncombine the whole package or Remove individual orders. This works only before the package ships or reaches Awaiting Collection. Removed orders must be fulfilled separately unless they qualify to combine with others again.
Cancellations and Returns Inside a Combined Package
Combining orders doesn’t merge them for customer service purposes. Each order keeps its own lifecycle, and TikTok spells out how the edge cases work:
| Situation | What TikTok says happens | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Buyer cancels one order before it ships | You’re prompted to approve or reject the cancellation and amend the combined package | Pull that item from the box and re-check the package dimensions before the label prints |
| Refund request while the package is Awaiting Collection | If you approve, the package is uncombined after the refund completes; remaining orders revert to a separate package | Re-label the remaining orders before the carrier scan |
| Return requested after delivery | The buyer can return orders in the package without affecting the combined status of the others | Handle it as a normal single-order return |
The practical lesson is to keep the pack-out step close to the label step. A combined box that sits for hours after the label is printed is the one most likely to need re-work when a cancellation arrives.
Splitting One Order Into Several Packages
Splitting is the mirror image. It’s useful when one item in an order is oversized and needs its own carton, when items ship from different locations, or when part of an order is ready and part is not. TikTok’s US page lists the conditions:
- The order has more than one item.
- The order is still Awaiting Shipment.
- None of the SKUs are canceled or have a cancellation request.
- It works for both TikTok Shipping and Seller Shipping orders.
Start from Orders → Manage Orders or Shipping → Batch Shipping, click Split Order, and use Move to new package on the SKU you want to separate. The page’s examples also show splitting multiple units of the same SKU across packages by changing the item quantity on the Create shipping labels screen. Be aware that the page’s own AI summary says a single SKU can’t be divided across packages, which contradicts its examples. Partner Center’s fulfillment documentation says US orders have no restriction on how items are split. Test it on a real order in your Seller Center before you build a process around it.
A few rules worth knowing. You can edit the split, reset it to one package or move SKUs between packages until one of the packages has been arranged for shipment. After that, the split is locked. Split orders get a Split tag and can be filtered under Order Combine/Split → Already Split, and in the export, split orders show different Package IDs under the same Order ID. TikTok also notes that the estimated shipping cost shown while splitting is for reference only; the actual fee appears in Seller Billing under Finance. Each package is then fulfilled, tracked, canceled and refunded separately.
If you’re splitting because of oversized items, our guide to oversized and heavy item fulfillment covers carrier limits and packaging for bulky products.
If You Use Shopify, an OMS or the API
Brands that fulfill outside Seller Center need the combination signal to reach their pack station. TikTok’s European Seller University describes an automated order combination setting for Shopify sellers using the Shipped by Seller option: TikTok assigns grouped orders a Group ID, and the TikTok app writes it into the Notes of each Shopify order as auto_combine_group_id, so the team packs matching orders together and enters the same tracking number on each. That page is published for EU markets; we haven’t confirmed the same setting is live for US shops, so check Logistics settings in your own Seller Center or ask your integration provider.
For custom integrations, Partner Center documents a Combine Package API (POST /fulfillment/202309/packages/combine, scope seller.fulfillment.package.write). Its fulfillment overview also describes “in-shipping consolidation” for US orders, where the seller consolidates in their own process and then either creates packages or marks each consolidated order shipped with the tracking number. If your developer or OMS vendor is wiring this up, our order management and API integration guide covers webhooks and order sync more broadly.
Combining Orders vs. Selling Bundles
Combining shipments is an operations fix for buyers who order more than once. It doesn’t raise average order value by itself; it lowers the cost of serving buyers who already did. If many of your combined packages contain the same two or three products, that’s a strong hint to build a bundle or multi-buy offer so the buyer gets everything in one checkout. Our bundle and multi-buy strategy guide covers how to price them without giving away margin. Note that if you use Fulfilled by TikTok, bundles sold as a single unit have their own packaging rules (one barcode on the bundle, “Sold as a Set” and “Do Not Open” labels) under TikTok’s FBT packaging requirements.
A Combine-and-Split Checklist for Your Fulfillment Team
- Batch packing a few times a day instead of packing each order on arrival, staying inside your handling time.
- After a LIVE, wait out the one-hour cancellation window where your handling time allows, so add-on orders can combine.
- Re-measure combined boxes before buying a TikTok Shipping label; edit length, width and height to match.
- Click Combine before shipping on TikTok Shipping orders; it can’t be fixed afterward.
- For seller shipping, upload one tracking number to every order in a combined parcel.
- Reconcile with the Package ID column in order exports.
- Split only when it helps: oversized items, separate ship-from locations, or partial readiness. Check Seller Billing for the real cost.
- Review combined orders monthly for product pairs that belong in a bundle.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I combine orders on TikTok Shop?
When two or more orders share the same customer, shipping address and delivery option and are still Awaiting Shipment, Seller Center recommends combining them when you click Create Label or Add Tracking Info. Choose Confirm All Combinations and Continue, remove any orders you want shipped separately, and ship the package. You can amend it until it ships or reaches Awaiting Collection.
Why isn't TikTok Shop letting me combine two orders?
TikTok only recommends combinations when the orders have the same customer, the same shipping address and the same delivery option, and are Awaiting Shipment with no cancellation request. A different address, a different delivery option, an order that already shipped or a pending cancellation will keep orders apart.
I shipped orders together but forgot to click Combine. Can I fix it?
For seller-arranged shipping, yes: upload the combined parcel's tracking number to each order in the package, and the logistics status syncs. For TikTok Shipping labels bought on the platform, TikTok says you must combine before shipping, and the combination can't be amended after the orders ship.
How do I split a TikTok Shop order into two packages?
For an Awaiting Shipment order with more than one item and no canceled SKUs, go to Orders, Manage Orders or Shipping, Batch Shipping, click Split Order and use Move to new package. You can edit or reset the split until one package is arranged for shipment. Each package is then tracked, canceled and refunded separately.
What happens if a buyer cancels one order in a combined package?
TikTok says you'll be prompted to approve or reject the cancellation and amend the combined package. If a refund is approved while the package is Awaiting Collection, the package is uncombined after the refund and the remaining orders revert to a separate package to fulfill.
